By considering education as a fundamental right of every child of our society 'Shuruaat: Ek jyoti shiksha ki’, (A non-profit organization) provides all necessary education for five years to kids from the slums across Prayagraj city, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Shuruaat has been taking all imperatives to enlighten the future of these little pupils from the slums. Today, more than 350 children from the slums upto class twelfth are getting free education from four different branches of the institution.
Presently, the institution makes all attempts to spread quality education among it’s students with the help of a smart computer class, a science lab, a library, PPT projects and many more extra curricular and sports activities. Influenced by the efforts of the institution, Prayagraj police department has also been taking a step forward to teach it's students.
Today, with the aim of overall development of these brilliant students from the slums, the organization is involved in the renovation endeavours of its building, where pupils may get all important facilities within a place apart from their studies. Now, Shuruaat is also trying to find a solution for student's residence during their studies, by getting them admitted to proper boarding schools.
By keeping in mind the physical health risks of unaware, illiterate and financially incapable slum and urban-rural women and girls during menstruation a sanitary pad bank has also been started by Shuruaat organization on January 1, 2021 in Alopibagh district of Prayagraj city, which offers free pads to all needy women. More than 400 women have been registered in this pad bank till now. Presently, women living in the surrounding areas of about 15-20 km have become regular members of this bank. Wouldn't be wrong to call it another remarkable initiative of the institution.
Journey so far:
The journey of the institution, which started five years ago with the intent to provide all elementary education to the slum kids, now proceeds to take these little learners to the mainstream of education by providing quality education to them. For which every volunteer of ‘Shuruaat’ is committed to provide quality education to these shanty students with the help of a smart computer class, a science lab, a library, PPT projects and with some extra curricular or sports activities.
Due to the all vigorous and tireless efforts of the organization, the children who once used to beg on the road and were indulged in addiction or used to work as house helpers, are not only taking interest in studies, but enroll themselves now in reputed schools and colleges of the state by performing well in their classes. Abhishek – Shuruaat’s brilliant slum student is now doing his graduation from Ewing Christian college, Allahabad in microbiology by getting high percentage in class 12th.
Dheeraj- Dheeraj from a distant village who lost his father in early age, scored a massive 84% in his class 10th from GIC inter college in June 2019, again proving that all that children just need an opportunity to grow and to prove themselves.
